三、教學目標 Objectives
妳/你曾想過要改變社會嗎？從小到大，妳/你是否曾希望對事情應該怎麼做有發言權？若是，那你選對學科了！

社會學是最酷的學科。真的，還有哪個領域的學科更能讓你看出社會是如何運作、以及如何運用所學來改變社會？這門課的目的是透過學習社會學，幫助我們變成民主社會中有智識、主動且有效能的公民參與者。

社會學家看到人們如何塑造社會，又如何被更大的社會力量所形塑。藉著培養出所謂的「社會學之眼」（sociological eye），我們得以看透表象，探知社會運作的真實面。「社會學之眼」使我們以獨特角度看社會，察覺常遭忽略的現象，看出一般人未留意的日常事件中各種模式的關聯。運用「社會學之眼」亦有助於看穿政府運作的表象，說服並促使政府官員提出政策來解決社會不公。

社會學有兩個「核心承諾」：了解社會是如何運作的、以及運用這知識使社會變得更好。越是訓練自己成為社會學家，我們的「社會學之眼」就會越敏銳，也更能使自己的社會行動有效且有建設性。

透過閱讀、練習與討論，我們將學會怎麼看穿社會事件的表象，將個人煩惱與公共議題關連起來，並知道哪些訊息來源值得信賴，然後學習如何運用這些社會學工具來強化我們自己的能力，使國家更民主、社會更公平，並且希望能進一步確保全球人類的權利與福祉。
This course tries to bring the "public sociology" movement into the classroom, as it teaches students to use the tools of sociology to become effective participants in our democratic society. Through exercises and projects, students will be encouraged to practice the application of these tools in order to get both hands-on training in sociology and experience with civic engagement in their communities.

The goal of this course is to introduce sociological knowledge through readings and discussions in classes. We hope to understand contemporary society and its related issues from social structural point of views. After taking this course, students are expected:

1.To understand the general contents of sociological theories
2.To learn that how sociologists do their research
3.To learn the similarities and differences between sociology and other social sciences
4.To learn the close relationship between culture, social structure and personal life
5.To learn important and critical issues in contemporary Taiwan as well as the world
6.To apply sociological knowledge into practice

我希望這門課能有趣又有意義。

這門課程包含四個重要部分：閱讀、寫作、討論、與實踐。希望透過多面向的多元教學方式，讓修課同學能真正從生活中體會社會學的意義與價值，以及培養將來運用社會學知識來協助個人生活、實踐社會責任的寬闊胸襟與能力。

課程評量方式將包含閱讀、寫作、討論、與實踐四個面向。不會太艱難，只希望能確實幫助我們成長。
