三、教學目標 Objectives | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
本課程企圖讓學生瞭解什麼多元,什麼是文化,人是否有共通性,如何平等。以及什麼是族群,身份,權力,歧視,文化能力等基本多元文化概念,以及在資本主義社會被打壓的族群所處的地位。課程不會處理和不同文化相處的方式。本課程挑戰社會上一些既存且被認為理所當然的概念和行為,其實蘊含了歧視和打壓的意味,這些社會排除的行動其實分分秒秒的反映在日常生活中和政策中。企圖跳脫一元化思考的角度,用更寬廣的視野來看待目前在變遷的台灣社會。期待學生可以用更多元的角度,和更寬廣的心和不同族群場生社會融合的效應。 |

What is culture? What do we mean when we say “cultural diversity?” Is this a code for saying “people who don’t look like we do?” And who is the “we” implied in that previous sentence? These are the kinds of questions we will explore in this class. This class will not focus on specific groups, but focus on oppression, power, discrimination, identity, and cultural competence. The larger aim of the class is to encourage students to think in more informed ways about all kinds of difference, to become more sophisticated in examining the way race and culture are used as terms in every day speech, to gain insight into our own attitudes and to develop greater awareness of and curiosity about the many cultural worlds. |

四、課程內容 Course Description | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
●整體敘述 Overall Description 本可乘以念英文為主,選讀都是經典,只有五個主題,身分,差異,壓迫,正義,展望與行動。 每個主題閱讀文章約10-13頁,每主題進度維持兩周。 同學將分四組,每人會輪流導讀一組,導讀同學請於前一周繳交導讀摘要,分給其他三組同學。 每一組在上課討論前兩周小組可以約兩小時給討論閱讀英文內容。 第五個主題是展望,有11篇每篇約2-3頁,不做導讀,各自閱讀討論。 |
