The course introduces political,economic and social transitions in comtemporary China after the Reform and Open policy in 1978,and focuses on the Cross-Strait relationship and interaction between China and Taiwan. In the process of transition, some significant issues will be explored and discussed especially, for examples political regime and governance, regional and economic development, market transition and social oganization, decentralization and formation of civil society, foreign strategy and Cross-Strait relationship. Besides these, it also pays attention to the related historical and cultural aspects to have deeper understanding of Chinese society.¡@
