三、教學目標 Objectives
本課程藉由探究18世紀末以降文學作品中角色人物，探討婚姻與愛情在兩性關係中的源起與變化。文本討論族群為以找到良伴、建立家庭為志業的中產階級女性為主。涵蓋的主題包含：什麼樣的溝通與相處模式造就了(不)良好的愛情關係；以及探詢感情中的背叛與出軌到底是源於對第三者的愛亦是為了自我追尋？ 透過閱讀和剖析這些文本，我們將試著回答為什麼對浪漫愛的憧憬成為現代人建立一個良好關係的阻礙，以及為何現代愛情關係如此具有挑戰性。期待透過閱讀這些作品後能更了解愛情的本質；向內回顧自身的信念系統，向外建構一個自己理想的感情藍圖。 ＊＊本課程不開放第一堂課人工加簽，請同學於加選期間透過網路系統完成選課。 *如欲修習此課程，需出席第一堂課的課程簡介與分組。
This course examines the origins and evolution of the institution of marriage and its role in classic literary works from the late 18th to the early 20th century. We will focus on in-depth analysis of the inner worlds of characters, particularly middle-class women of that era who were interested in marriage and finding an ideal husband. Through reading and analyzing these texts, we will dissect and break down the romantic imagination and explain why these images make it difficult for people today to build a good relationship and why modern relationships are so challenging. The aim of this course is to explore the way that the shift from thinking of marriage as a strictly economic decision to one which recognizes marriage as a critical component of personal fulfillment has taken place. Through the literature we will study in this course, we will consider different aspects of love and marriage in an attempt to discover how this shift has taken place. Questions to consider include: What makes a good relationship, including good communication skills? Is adultery really about loving the third person or trying to find one’s “other” self? *You are required to attend the first class in order to join this course.

●整體敘述 Overall Description While this course includes love stories, it's not a romantic course but rather a course that dissects romance. This course will respond to social observations and examine attitudes towards love that reflect modern social phenomena. Thus, we will also read theoretical articles from social psychologists and historians to help us gain a deeper understanding of the text beyond just the emotional level. Through analyzing historical contexts and case studies, we will explore the reasons why modern people choose to separate and leave relationships, and focus on self-love instead.
