三、教學目標 Objectives
「台灣海峽的議題是全球的議題，不是中國內政問題。」這是美國國務卿布林肯在2023年2月所做的重量級發言。當今世界局勢已形成民主與獨裁陣營的對抗，有些人說這是「新冷戰」。不管如何，過去長時間的「全球化」時代似已不再，取而代之的是地緣政治的對抗。台灣身處這個大時代的最前沿，我們將在這堂課上討論美國、中國、台灣之間關係的各種面向，用社會科學理論（包括國際關係、比較政治、國際政治經濟學等各方面）來理解並且解釋美中台關係的各種變化。經過這堂課的練習，我們期待學生能夠學習如何找到關於國際新聞當中的關鍵資訊，並且分析其重要性和影響。
While the world seems to be divided into the democracy versus autocracy competition, Taiwan is in the frontline of the dynamic of the geopolitics. In this course, we will learn how to use social science theories to understand the changes and continuities of the US-China-Taiwan relations. We expect the students learn how to acquire essential information about international events and analyze its implications for policy makers.
四、課程內容 Course Description
●整體敘述 Overall Description
In this course, we will learn the history and the contemporary dynamics of the US-China-Taiwan relations. We will use social science theories to understand the changes and continuities of the geopolitics in the Taiwan Strait in the context of the Indo-Pacific strategies. We expect the students learn how to acquire essential information about international events and analyze its implications for policy makers.
