1. Examining concepts such as heterosexism that normalizes heterosexuality as a dominant mode of intimate relations.
2. Comprehending how heterosexism as a system of oppression shapes the lives of persons who are heterosexual and those who belong to sexual minorities.
3. Exploring our own stereotypes, myths, and ideas about sex, gender, sexual identity, & sexual orientation.
4. Becoming familiar with a range of issues that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender peoples experience.
5. Developing a theoretical approach to conceptualizing and understanding sexual identity of sexual minorities, and learn ways in which we can counter heterosexism and homophobia in social work practice.
