三、教學目標 Objectives |
本課程將以聽、讀、口說為基礎,以提升學生的口頭報告技巧與英語能力。課堂上以日常生活中常見或所需面臨的問題為活動主軸,以鼓勵學生參與各活動並有效的思考出解決方案。課程內容設計之宗旨在使學生能夠靈活應用課程所學於日常生活中,並隨時加入有趣的活動或角色扮演。活動可能包含: 談判、會議、陳述事實或數字與表格。以下為本課程主要目標: 1. 增進學生的理解能力與討論能力。 2. 強化批判性思考能力。 3. 幫助學生於報告時減少使用小抄的次數。 4. 加強學生的英文順暢度。 5. 優化學生的簡報技巧。 6. 使學生能更有效的了解口說英語。 |
The course objectives are: 1. To increase students’ ability to comprehend and discuss materials with others in class. 2. To develop critical thinking skill. 3. To help students not to bring their notes to the stage when they are presenting. 4. To improve students’ fluency. 5. To help students develop their own presentation strategies. 6. To enhance students’ ability to better understanding spoken English. |
四、課程內容 Course Description |
●整體敘述 Overall Description This course will develop the three skills of reading, listening, and speaking, but with a focus of presentation skills and presentation strategies. Each class will revolve around practical tasks and activities encouraging students to provide creative solutions to authentic problems that may occur in our daily lives. These will enable students to consolidate and apply the knowledge they build up over the duration of the course. Interesting and interactive role-play activities will be employed in each class to ensure that presentation and speaking skills are developed in an engaging and challenging way. These activities may include but not limited to the followings: negotiation, meeting, presenting figures and facts, etc. t |

配分標準說明 Grading Description |
出席 | | 10% | 1. If you need to take a leave, you need to submit appropriate document as proof in order to be excused. 2. Attendance mark is based on how many minutes you are present in class. 3. For example, for the whole semester, Paoli has skipped 2 classes and was late for 40 minutes in total. Therefore, her attendance will be 100 – [100x2 (skipped 2 classes) + 40] / 18 (there are 18 weeks) = 87.
However, if the number is lower than 70, it will be zero. [Excused sick leave or other types will not account for the absent minutes.]
| 報告 | 3 | 45% | Presentation 1: The topics will be brainstormed by the students in the 2nd week and the selected ones will be assigned for each group. Students may find their own partners for this presentation. PowerPoint Slides are required for this assignment and each one in the group has to take part in.
Presentation 2: The topics will be randomly assigned to each group. Students will be able to find their own partners for this presentation. All forms of presentations are welcome, but reading from script is strongly prohibited.
Presentation 3: The topics will be chosen by your own group, but the teammates are randomly assigned. Therefore, you will not know who your partners are. However, there are always time for your preparation. The topic will be your own choice. | 課堂討論 | | 20% | A short article will be given to each group, and each group will have a different one. After reading your own article, your group has to come up with some critical thinking questions to ask the peers other than your own group mates. Your group will have to lead the discussion for at least 15 minutes. | 參與 | | 5% | Participation Is monitored each week. Students need to preview the contents before each class and answer the instructor’s questions. Your attendance also can affect your participation if you are absent often. | 即席演講 | | 10% | The topic will be assigned in the first period, and starting in the mid of the first period, each group will come to the front to deliver their presentation. All topics will be given a week ahead, but won’t be assigned until the week scheduled to do this task. | 街頭訪問試膽 | | 10% | You will be going to the street and interview a foreigner in English. The task will be graded based on your short presentation which should be between 4 and 5 minutes. You may use slides, interactive approach, or any means you can think of to deliver the presentation. However, you will be thinking of the questions you want to ask.Try to remain polite and keep your general etiquette. |
